Due to what is believed to be a large ammonite severing a pipeline, Gordon Street and the junction with Sea View Road will be closed for urgent maintenance and ammonite removal.
The fossil department at the Museum and Containment Facility are working with the Street Works team and South East Water to remove the fossil and reconnect the water mains.
Anyone in the affected areas will be receiving bottled water from the Council – these vans will be clearly marked with the Council logo, and drivers will be carrying ID.
